Back in the City of Angels

Albuquerque was a lot of fun, with its Old Town, reviving new Downtown, and hipster Knob Hill. We spent a few hours visiting places like the KiMo Theater, a record store, and a converted gas station that now serves as a diner. Then we headed across the state line, back to Arizona and to Flagstaff, which we visited earlier in 2009. We spent a pretty calm New Year's Eve at a Himalayan restaurant and then back at the hotel, as the snow on the ground (about a foot-and-a-half) was frozen and the taxis into the center of town were all backed up. Nevermind, we had a very nice evening and welcomed 2010 with a couple of glasses of champagne.

The next morning, January 1st, we drove through Williams, a small town on Route 66 just by the Grand Canyon, which is one of our favorites, and then on straight to Los Angeles. JM drove some 460 miles in one go and only had one near collision in the San Bernardino valley (not our fault, of course...). It's nice to be back, but so many things to do before we head back to work tomorrow. After leaving the snow and the cold on Friday morning, it's been sunny and warm in LA all weekend.

The photos are now online here.
